Making its debut and under the musical direction of Yoichi Uzeki and artistic director Michael Feinberg, the Ridgewood Big Band connects professionals with collegiate musicians and showcase the compositions and arrangements of its members. The Ridgewood Big Band showcases the collective as much as the soloist as a platform for collaboration within our diverse Queens community.

His selected collaborators include Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Ornette Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Oliver Lake, Norman Connors, Michael Henderson, Terell Stafford, Tim Warfield Jr., and Craig Harris.

Michael Feinberg is the founder and artistic director of Ridgewood Jazz Fest. An accomplished bassist, producer and composer Feinberg’s arrangements have earned accolades from Downbeat Magazine and the International songwriting competition where he is a 3x finalist. He has published over 50 original compositions throughout his career which have been featured on NPR, FX and ESPN his album Hard Times (2021 Fresh Sound New Talent) stayed in the top 10 of the jazz radio charts for 8 weeks.
