After-School Programs (CASA)
Since 2007, Queens Theatre Education has led more than 110 after-school residencies in Queens public schools through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs' Cultural After-School Adventures (CASA) program. Each year, 8 to 10 schools host a residency.
In each residency, a group of 20 students works with a team of two teaching artists, a director, and a musical director. The group meets twice a week for two hours over 12 weeks to create and perform an original play with original songs, built around a Social Emotional Learning theme. Students share their work in performances at their school and at Queens Theatre for family and friends.
Along the way, students build performance skills, explore their voices and bodies, grow in confidence, and strengthen their storytelling and writing.

CASA residencies are made possible with support from local City Council members through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs' Cultural After-School Adventures (CASA) program.
Queens Theatre Education (QTEd)
Queens Theatre Education brings the performing arts to Queens public school students through classes, residencies, and live theatre experiences. Each year, QTEd serves more than 3,000 students, many of whom are experiencing the performing arts for the first time.
