Brian Gore, founder of The International Guitar Night, brings together the world's foremost acoustic guitarists to perform their latest original compositions and exchange musical ideas in a public concert setting.  For 2009 Brian will be joined by French fingerstyle master Pierre Bensusan; renowned American classical guitarist and composer
Benjamin Verdery, and  Cecilia Zabala, brilliant young guitarist and singer from Argentina.

Pierre Bensusan, voted Best World Music Guitar Player in 2008 by the readers of US Guitar Player Magazine, is an astonishingly talented guitarist who colors outside the lines of traditional jazz structure.  If freedom could be explained with music, it would be defined with Bensusan’s ability to turn five strings into an unparalleled execution of emotion, technique and eclectic rhythms.  Pierre Bensusan is considered to be one of the most diverse world musicians of our time.

Benjamin Verdery is a veteran player of classical guitar and has been described as “iconoclastic” and “inventive” by the New York Times.  Benjamin has released 15 albums since his career debut in 1980 and has won numerous accolades for his work.  In 1992 Guitar Player Magazine name Some Towns and Cities as the Best Classical Guitar Recording of the year and, in 2005, Start Now won the Classical Recording Foundation Award.  Since 1985, Benjamin has been chair of the guitar department at Yale University School of Music and is currently Artistic Director of the Yale Guitar Extravaganza.

Cecilia Zabala is highly regarded in her hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Influenced by Argentinean folklore, the contemporary language of the twentieth century, jazz, tango and Brazilian music, her compositions are an expressive blend of emotion, technique and intuition.  Throughout her career, she has expressed her musical creativity using her guitar and voice.  In addition to performing as a soloist, Cecilia is also a member of several different chamber ensembles including the guitar group Cuatro en Punto.”

Brian Gore, a lyrical fingerstyle guitarist from San Francisco, founded the International Guitar Night  over a decade ago, to bring the wealth of acoustic guitar music and world class players to audiences across North America, and now Europe. He has two critically acclaimed solo albums, and is known for his duo and trio collaborations as well. Brian’s talents go way beyond his playing – he is also a successful impresario and has recently published a book on guitar technique.
