This 1,255-acre park has historical, recreational and environmental significance. The former dumping ground labelled a "valley of ashes" by F. Scott Fitzgerald in "The Great Gatsby" has become Queens' largest park, and one of New York City's flagship parks.

 

New York Hall of Science

The New York Hall of Science is New York City's hands-on science and technology center. Explore the largest science playground in the United States, learn about balance while riding a mechanical surfboard, discover a science play area just for preschoolers, and journey into the world of color and light at one of the nation’s best science centers. The Wildlife Conservation Society's Queens Zoo

The Wildlife Conservation Society's Queens Zoo is home to spectacular wildlife, dedicated to the animals of North and South America. Visitors to this 11-acre zoo can see a variety of animals, including burly bison, tree-climbing Andean bears, graceful sea lions, a variety of farm animals and more. The Queens Zoo is the perfect place to connect with nature and learn about wildlife. Summer hours, April - October are 10 am to 5 pm M- F; open till 5:30 p.m. on weekends. Nov - March, the zoo is open from 10 am to 4:30 pm daily.
